Why Box?
Boxing is a great way to relieve stress, release endorphins, tone and strengthen your muscles, burn calories, and increase your cardiovascular endurance. It may look like you only use your arms in boxing - but you are actually using your entire body. You will learn how to draw strength from your legs, core, and back to pack the most power into each punch. It's also crazy fun.
Why CUWB?
At CU Women's Boxing, our mission is to empower women in all aspects of their life by providing a comfortable and encouraging environment for them to gain confidence through boxing and fitness. Consisting of technique training, bag drills, speed work, conditioning, and cardio, classes vary daily so your body is constantly being challenged and you never get bored! Women of any and all fitness levels are welcome.
Will I get hit?
No, you will not. You will never have to worry about hitting someone or getting hit. In all of our boxing classes, your opponent is the bag and, obviously, the bag does not hit back. While we are a no contact gym, we do prioritize proper form and technique to keep you safe, and help you get the most out of your workout. Don’t be fooled - boxing is a tough workout, even when it’s you vs you!
ABOUT THE COACH
Jessie Rusteberg
I know what it's like to feel defeated - to feel frustrated, weak, and small - to not know what the next steps are or how to take them. I also know what it's like to feel strong - to finish a workout and feel exhausted and proud of the limits you just pushed - to feel empowered because, even though you aren't the fastest or the strongest one, you are becoming the best version of you. I know what it's like to see progress and to be motivated by the changes your body is making - and most importantly, to see the changes in your mindset and self-esteem. Boxing has been an incredibly empowering experience for me and I am thrilled to be able to share that with the amazing women of Champaign-Urbana. I have 10 years of boxing experience and am a certified USA Boxing coach. Whether you want to add something different to your already existing workout plan, have never set foot in a gym before, simply want a great full body workout, or want to get in that ring and compete - I'm here to help you through it. I can't do it for you, but I can stand in your corner and give you the tools you need to help you meet your goals! I believe you are even stronger than you know. Come see.
